Maria Machala is a certified nurse practitioner and has worked in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Colorado since 2015, specializing in otology/neurotology. She has collaborated with her colleagues on various research studies, practice improvement projects, and she has presented both locally and nationally on topics such as hearing loss, pulsatile tinnitus, and vestibular migraine. She serves as a guest lecturer at the Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner schools within the University of Colorado as well as a clinical mentor to students in these programs. She is a proctor for workshops at the yearly Society of PAs in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (SPAO-HNS) conference, teaching advanced practice providers who work in otolaryngology how to perform comprehensive vestibular evaluations and otology procedures including mastoid debridement, myringotomy, and intratympanic injections. She has a special interest in vestibular disorders, particularly in the relationship between Meniere’s disease and migraine.
